The new Firmware v2.0.0 with Android 7.0 Nougat for HiMedia Q10 Pro and Himedia Q5 Pro Release

We have good news for fans of TV Boxes from HiMedia, and exactly the last two models HiMedia Q10 Pro (review here) and HiMedia Pro Q5 (review here) equipped with HiSilicon HI3798C V200. The company provides a new firmware (v2.0.0) for these models. Both TV boxes with the new firmware v2.0.0 received a new Android 7.0 Nougat. They are currently the only TV Boxes which runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.

HMD-2.0.0 2016-11-18.175905 can be download here. THIS FIRMWARE IS FOR INTERNATIONAL/EUROPEAN Q10 PRO and Q5 PRO ONLY. The changelog for the new firmware includes:

Installation Instructions:

  • IF YOU ARE RUNNING ANDROID 5.1 (FIRMWARE 101 – 108) YOU MUST INSTALL TWO FIRMWARES, STAGES 1 & 2.
  • IF YOU ARE ALREADY RUNNING THE ANDROID 7 BETA FIRMWARE (200) YOU ONLY NEED TO INSTALL ONE FIRMWARE, STAGE 2.

STAGE 1. Migrate from Android 5.1 to Android 7 – download migrate firmware for Q10 Pro here or Q5 Pro here

  1. Extract update.zip (using an unzip program like 7zip, winzip etc) from Q10_PRO_ANDROID_5.1_TO_ANDROID_7_MIGRATION_FIRMWARE.zip or Q5_PRO_ANDROID_5.1_TO_ANDROID_7_MIGRATION_FIRMWARE.zip to the root of a FAT32 formatted USB pen drive. (the USB pen drive should contain a single file called ‘update.zip’).
  2. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of Q10 Pro or Q5 Pro.
  3. With Q10 Pro or Q5 Pro turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole UPGRADE button on the back of Q10 Pro (next to the power port).
  4. While keeping the UPGRADE button pressed, turn on the Q10 Pro or Q5 Pro.
  5. Q10 Pro or Q5 Pro will show the Android 5.1 green droid upgrade logo.
  6. When you see the Android 5.1 green droid logo you can release the restore button.
  7. A progress bar will indicate update progress. Do not turn box off or use the box/remote during update!
  8. When update is complete the box will automatically reboot.
  9. First boot will take 3-5 minutes. The box will reboot into Android 7 migration firmware. Allow boot to complete.

STAGE 2. Install latest Android 7 FW – download firmware for Q10 Pro here or Q5 Pro here

1. Extract update.zip (using an unzip program like 7zip, winzip etc) from Q10 Pro here or  Q5 Pro here to the root of a FAT32 formatted USB pen drive. (the USB pen drive should contain a single file called ‘update.zip’).
2. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of Q10 Pro or Q5 Pro.
3. With Q10 Pro or Q5 Pro turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole UPGRADE button on the back of Q10 Pro (next to the power port) or With Q5 Pro turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole RESTORE button on the back of Q5 Pro (next to the power port).
4. While keeping the UPGRADE button pressed, turn on the Q10 Pro or While keeping the RESTORE button pressed, turn on the Q5 Pro.
5. Q10 Pro or Q5 Pro will show the Android 7 coloured circle upgrade logo.
6. When you see the coloured circle upgrade logo you can release the restore button.
7. A progress bar will indicate update progress. Do not turn box off or use the box/remote during update!
8. When update is complete the box will automatically reboot.
9. First boot will take 3-5 minutes. The box will reboot into Android 7 final 2.0.0 firmware. Allow boot to complete.
