Huion Kamvas Pro 13 (2.5K) is a portable pen display that has been available on the market for 2 years and receives good reviews. Some time ago, we received a Kamvas Pro 13 pen display drawing tablet from Huion for review. This is the first product of this type that we have tested, and none of the team is a professional in drawing. Therefore, our review may certainly be of interest to people who are just starting their adventure with pen displays and/or are looking for this type of drawing device. You can see how it performed in our tests and what we managed to draw with it in our Kamvas Pro 13 review.

Kamvas Pro 13: First impressions and overview of features
When it comes to the quality of workmanship, you can’t have any objections. The pen display looks aesthetically pleasing. The large working display is not shiny and on the left side there are 7 function buttons and two USB Type-C ports on the side (full-featured USB-C and power USB-C). In addition, the device also has a power button and an LED. The back of the device is made of aluminum and has four anti-slip protrusions. Even though it weighs 1 kg, it is not particularly heavy. The included foldable stand is also well-made and holds the device steadily. In addition, we have an aesthetic digital pen and an artist glove that makes drawing much easier. The set includes a pen holder that undoubtedly resembles a donut and contains a total of 10 nibs inside.
Overview Features
What is most important, i.e. the 13.3″ display, which deserves attention due to its valuable features:
- 2.5K (QHD+) Resolution and 226 Pixels Per Inch: Achieve intricate images with rich details, thanks to the 2.5K (QHD+) resolution and a pixel density of 226 pixels per inch, providing a high-quality visual canvas for your creations.
- 145% sRGB (QLED) Wide Color Gamut: Enjoy a display of purer and richer colors with the 145% sRGB (QLED) wide color gamut, ensuring a vibrant and true-to-life representation of your artwork. It also comes with a 178° viewing angle from IPS technology and 16.7M (8Bit) color depth to help you create more masterpieces.
- 8192 Levels of Pressure Sensitivity: Capture the nuances of your artistic expression with 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity, allowing you to render lines with diverse shapes and color saturation, responding dynamically to applied pressure changes.
- >300PPS Report Rate: Ensure a seamless presentation of your ideas with a report rate exceeding 300 PPS (Pen Pressure Sensitivity), eliminating lag and providing a responsive and fluid drawing experience.
- Anti-Glare Glass and IPS Screen Integration: The tablet’s anti-glare glass and IPS screen are seamlessly laminated, reducing parallax and creating a unified drawing surface that enhances clarity and precision in your creative work.
Besides, there are 7 shortcut keys set on the left side of the pen tablet. Each key can be set to different functions, such as your keyboard combinations, left and right mouse buttons, and set to switch the display screen and even set to connect to your computer system such as lock screen and shut down your computer. In addition, those functions’ connections can be set on your pen keys, significantly improving your drawing efficiency. By default, we have the most frequently used functions connected.
In addition, the PW517 digital pen has PenTech 3.0 technology, which allows you to render lines of different sizes and color saturation as the applied pressure and tilt angle change, which is suitable for drawing, sketching, coloring and marking. In addition to the standard pen tips, the PW517 also comes with felt pen tips that provide users with more organic and accurate pen strokes as well as a natural drawing experience.
Kamvas Pro 13 Review: Handling and drawing
We connected the Kamvas Pro 13 pen display to the laptop using a 3-in-2 cable and a USB extension cable. After connecting everything to the system (Windows 10 Pro), we downloaded and installed the drivers from the Huion website. After installation, the Huion tablet app appears which allows you to configure the pen display according to your needs using a very intuitive user interface.
- Press Keys – This can be customized to your preferences or left as default depending on your workflow.
- Working area – This can be configured to your screen size or set to however you wish to use it. You can also rotate the display through 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees.
- Monitor calibration is completed via the pen in a series of 9 crosshairs that you touch in sequence using your ‘Common Pen Holding Posture’.
- Pressure Sensitivity Adjustment – With varying settings to choose from and adjust to your individual requirements.
- Display Settings – Again these are completely adjustable to your preferences and include, Color Temperature and Color Space.
We used Krita 5.2.2 software for drawing. We found it easy to use, so we didn’t use any other programs. When it comes to pressure and using a digital pen, everything requires practice. After a dozen or so minutes of drawing, you’ll get the idea. It happens that you can accidentally press the buttons on the digital pen.
The side buttons make the drawing process very easy, we mean increasing and decreasing the brush size, zooming, and moving the drawing. We will repeat everything again, it takes some time to get used to it, but then it only gets better, and using the functions becomes automatic. Even amateurs like us managed to create a drawing.
As for the drawing experience, it was a very pleasant time. We had no problems with using the Kamvas Pro 13 pen display and digital pen. After some time, you could get the impression that you were drawing on a piece of paper and not on a digital display.
Review Huion Kamvas Pro 13 (2.5K): Conclusions
The ability to set function buttons and adjust the digital pen makes working with the digital display much easier. The digital pen responds well to pressure and fits well in the hand. If you are looking for a display pen for entertainment, spending time developing your artistic talent, and creating your own digital images, Kamvas Pro 13 2.5K is definitely for you. As for the price, it could be cheaper. Of course, Huion’s pen display is a tool for professionals, but amateurs and beginners will undoubtedly also be satisfied. We recommend the Huion Kamvas Pro 13 pen display.
