Recently we wrote about the new Atom x5 processors (Intel Atom X5-E8000, X5-X5-Z8330 and Z8350). Today announces that Intel introduces another new Atom x5 processors for tablets surfaced. Two new Atom processors called Atom x5-Z8550 and Atom x7-Z8750 and are quad-core systems on a chip, based on “Cherry Trail” design and manufactured on the latest 14nm technology. Similar to previously released x5-Z8350 model, the x5-Z8550 and x7-Z8750 have a new core stepping, that enables higher burst frequencies, and it fixes two GPU defects, described by Intel as “Alpha Blending and ASTC graphics errata”
Below are specifications of Atom x5-Z85xx and x7-Z87xx processors (new chips are in bold):
Both Atom x5-Z8550 and x7-Z8750 have 4 CPU cores, 2 MB of last level cache, and 8th generation low power graphics, clocked at 200 MHz and up to 600 MHz. The x5-Z8550 runs at 1.44 GHz, which can be boosted up to 2.4 GHz with the help of Burst Performance technology. The HD 400 GPU on this part has 12 execution units. Base and clock speeds of the x7-Z8750 are 1.6 GHz and 2.56 GHz. It has HD 405 graphics with 16 execution units. The x5 and x7 chips integrate a single channel memory controller, that supports up to 8GB of LPDDR3-1600 memory. Atom x5-Z8550 and x7-Z8750 are produced in Type 4 BGA package.
