We recently wrote about the newest Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro 2024 streaming box that Youtuber SUPERDELL-TV found stationary in his local Walmart store. Now, we have another good news. Onn 4K Pro Google TV Box is finally available online at Walmart for $49.88. What we mean here is the strong specification. S905X4 SoC with 4K AV1 decoding, 3GB RAM, 32GB eMMC storage, WiFi 6, and a built-in speaker with a microphone for hands-free voice control. In addition, the whole thing is supported by Google TV OS based on Android TV 12. That’s not all, the new Onn 4K Pro streaming device comes with a customized G10 Bluetooth voice remote, which now has additional buttons, a backlight, and a built-in remote finder feature.
Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro Google TV Box is it worth it?
The Onn 4K Pro Box from Walmart has been buzzing among YouTubers and bloggers for the past few days. Reddit threads are abuzz with users bravely discussing its features, and specs, and pondering whether splurging on the “Pro” model is justified when its predecessor holds up well and the highly anticipated Google Chromecast 4K 2024 is just around the corner.
In our opinion, the latest Onn 4K Pro streamer is worth buying but targeted at specific users. First of all, it has 3GB DDR4 RAM and 32GB eMMC, which distinguishes it among the most certified streaming devices. Of course, there are more powerful ones, for example, the latest MECOOL KM2 Plus Deluxe. Additionally, there is support for WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and RJ45 Fast Ethernet. And the most interesting thing, and probably what some users have been waiting for, is hands-free voice control. If you need to issue voice commands to Google Assistant, the “Pro” model is dedicated to you. Besides, a built-in speaker can also be used as a typical Bluetooth speaker.
Although benchmarks (via AFTnews) of the new 2024 Onn 4K Pro with previous Onn’s models and other top streaming devices, also older ones, were poor, it does not seem to be detrimental to this model. Walmart’s “4K Pro” streamer powered by an Amlogic S905X4 Quad-core Cortex-A55 CPU clocked at 2 GHz and a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, delivers solid performance with 4K@60fps AV1 video decoding. Let’s not forget that the device has up to 3GB RAM.
Regarding I/O ports, the streaming device has a DC jack, USB 3.0, HDMI 2.0, and RJ45 Fast Ethernet. By the way, it is worth adding that the Onn 4K Pro supports HDR10, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. 4K streaming box runs on Google TV OS based on Android TV 12.
New Remote with Backlight and a Remote Finder feature
For the price of $49.88, in addition to the streamer, we get an HDMI cable 4.92ft (1.5 m), an AC Adapter with cable 4.88 ft (1.49 m), Quick Start Guide and, of course, Bluetooth Voice Remote control with 2x AAA batteries. Onn 4K Pro streaming box now comes with an upgraded G10 Bluetooth voice remote.
Although the huge blue “Free TV” button doesn’t look the best (it launches the Google “Free TV Channels” app, which contains over 100 free live channels with ads to watch), the new remote control offers something more. In addition to the well-known 4 quick launch buttons at the bottom of the remote control, on the top right, there is a new “star button” that allows you to customize it and assign any application to it. In addition, the remote control has a built-in remote finder function. Besides, now we have backlighting for all buttons, which is helpful at night.
