The Realtek RTD1319D is the first set-top box SoC to support the new VVC/H.266 video decoding technology. Besides, the chip also supports AV1 and HEVC decoders with advanced HDR standards. The new RTD1319D SoC also provides a GPU with 10-bit graphics, support for multiple Conditional Access Systems (CAS), and HDMI 2.1a video output up to 4Kp60 with HDR.
RTD1319D SoC is a powerful ARM quad-core CPU dedicated to set-top boxes. In addition, has an advanced GPU that provides 10‑bit graphics capability, and optimized and enhanced Android TV Leanback UI performance. In addition, it supports a variety of high-speed interfaces such as USB3.0 and PCI-e as well as various CAS functions. It supports HDMI 2.1a and supports 4K functions, increasing the user experience. In addition, the RTD1319D has built-in DVB demodulators and multiple TS interfaces that respond to different broadcast signals simultaneously. Realtek RTD1319D SoC also meets far-field voice, secure encryption/decryption, and high-speed Wi-Fi network requirements.
The most important thing is that it supports H.266 / VCC codec. As we wrote in March, H.266 codec (Versatile Video Coding) has been added to the DVB specification for 4K (3840 × 2160) and 8K (7680 × 4320) resolutions. There is no full specification at the moment. Only the press release that was created for the needs of IBC 2022. However, there are a lot of streaming TV Boxes based on Realtek RTD1319 SoC on the market, including TV Boxes from the Formuler brand (Formuler Z10 Pro). As CNX Software points out, the RTD1319D SoC may have similar specifications to the RTD1319 chipset.
Realtek RTD1319D preliminary specifications:
- CPU – Quad-core Arm processor
- GPU – Unnamed GPU with 10-bit graphics
- Video Output – HDMI 2.1a up to 4Kp60 HDR
- Video Codecs
- 4Kp60 Versatile Video Coding (VVC/H.266)
- 4Kp60 AV1, H.265
- Tuner support
- Built-in DVB demodulators
- Multiple TS interfaces
- Audio – Far-field voice support
- Peripherals – USB 3.0, PCIe

Is RTD1319D just a dedicated SoC only for Hybrid TV Boxes equipped with DVB tuners? We will probably find out with the appearance of the first set-top boxes with this chipset.
