UGOOS AM6 Review: First impressions, settings, overview of features
AM6 TV Box has an aluminum housing (finally). It looks great and stylish. You get the impression that this is a decent device from a higher shelf. The whole is made with great care.
On the upper cover there is a characteristic UGOOS logo, and in the middle of it an LED. The front panel has an IR receiver and several holes. The left side has two external antennas and a power button. The right are: AV OUT port, AUX IN port, TF card slot, USB 3.0 / OTG port and USB 2.0. On the rear panel are DC jack, Gigabit RJ45 Ethernet port, HDMI 2.1, 2x USB 2.0, optical S / PDIF port. At the bottom of the device, there are four rubber pads to prevent shifting, recovery hole, maskrom hole, and information about the serial number and MAC address. TV Box comes with simple remote control (with multitasking button), but without the mouse cursor, known also from previous reviews. Below pictures.
In UGOOS AM6 we will not find a typical launcher with arranged features, just like in the smartphone wallpaper on which we place the necessary applications. On the main screen we can display. On the main screen we can also display the status bar (option available in rich UGOOS settings).
Impressions from the use
After turning on the device a nice surprise OTA update, a Big Plus!. You can update the device to the latest version without a problem and quickly (v0.0.9).
We can choose typically the resolution of FHD 1920×1080 (1080p 60Hz) but you can also adjust the preferred resolution or set the auto switch. Everything worked stable and very quickly without delays. We had no problem with Ethernet and WiFi connection to the router and to the Internet. Wifi 2×2 MIMO works really fast. Ethernet: Download – 318Mbps Upload – 31.50Mbps, WiFi: Download – 235Mbps Upload – 31.3Mbps. In addition to remote control with an air mouse feature, we used a standard keyboard and a gamepad from iPega called iPega PG-9076.
The device only has 2GB DDR RAM and 16GB eMMC. Despite this, everything works without a problem. However, a specification with 4GB RAM DD4 and at least 32GB eMMC would be expected (64GB eMMC welcome).
TV Box supports DLNA and also Miracast, but you need to install the AirScreen app. AM6 TV Box, unfortunately, supports Netflix up to 540p (we have installed the Netflix version v4.16.1) and 1080p Youtube (only full HD), but 4K works via YouTube for Android TV. In addition, TV Box has a lot of picture settings (Screen rotation, TV Dolby Vision etc. ). For testing, we installed the latest available Kodi 18.3 “Leia”. On UGOOS AM6 TV Box you can play in games from the Google Play store. We can confidently say that this is an Android TV Box perfect for games. Games run smoothly with maximum settings. Just connect a gamepad or keyboard. We used iPega PG-9076 and played Beach Buggy Racing, Real Racing 3, Asphalt 9 (nice), PUBG Mobile. Below a lot of screenshots.
UGOOS Settings / UGOOS features
As we mentioned in more than one article, UGOOS devices have additional features – UGOOS Settings. Below is a small overview of UGOOS features.
As you can see the following settings are available: ROOT, File server/client, Playback settings, Hardware monitor, Wireless Assistant, Gamepad settings, Debug Settings,User scripts, System bar, Input devices settings.
As you will see later, you can easily give ROOT acces via ROOT settings. The device supports Samba server, you can share files on a LAN, and also supports NFS and CIFS client. You can easily share folders in Windows 10, or use them via BubbleUPnP app (on smartphone).
By setting the Hardware Monitor, we can display and monitor the current state of hardware.
Wireless Assistant (Fireasy support) allows you to control (via Wifi, Bluetooth) AM6 TV Box via smartphone through Firefly v1.1 applications. Works fine but has limited functionality compared to CetusPlay app.
Gamepad settings allows you to set your preferred gamepad buttons. You can enable debug and display logs, enable and disable the status bar and notification bar display. As you can see, there are many additional settings. You will find these settings in TV Boxes from UGOOS. Other screenshots below.
UGOOS AM6 Review: Operating system and components
The UGOOS AM6 TV Box runs on the Android 9.0, Kernel version 4.9.113. The TV Box. As we mentioned earlier, TV Box supports OTA updates. We did the review on the latest V0.0.9 firmware. comes with firmware build number 901K0(20190508). TV Box is equipped with Amlogic S922X big.LITTLE processor with 4x Arm Cortex A73 cores @ up to 2.21 GHz, 2x Arm Cortex A53 cores @ 1.8 GHz and GPU Mali-G52, CPU speed between 100MHz and 2.21GHz. The Beelink GT-King clock speed was up to 1.80Ghz. It is difficult to say whether the CPU-Z app has been updated or whether the AM6 has a more powerful version of the S922X (maybe X922-B), or maybe the UGOOS team has figured out something 🙂
Below screenshots from CPU-Z app, DRM info app and Root Checker app. As we mentioned, you can enable ROOT Access in UGOOS Settings, and we did it.

UGOOS AM6 Review: Conclusions
UGOOS AM6 is above all the most powerful Android TV Box currently. AM6 copes well with 4K video playback, has fast and stable WiFi, gigabyte Ethernet connection, valuable additional UGOOS settings (e.g. SAMBA server), and additionally OTA updates. To fully happiness is missing probably only Netflix HD and Youtube 4K (works via YouTube for Android TV).
So, if you are looking for a powerful and efficient TV Box with a lot of features, and above all the support of the manufacturer through OTA firmware updates, then you should definitely consider buying UGOOS AM6. Considering the features and potential of the AM6 TV Box, the price does not seem excessive. We recommend an UGOOS AM6 TV Box.
