At IBC 2022 in Amsterdam, SEI Robotics showed upcoming streaming devices. Among other things, the SEI 8K Box is powered by the Amlogic S928X chipset. SEI 8K Box is developed by SEI Robotics and co-launched by Amlogic. The upcoming 8K streamer is to offer 8K resolution, IoT module, Google Assistant, Dolby Atmos, DTS, EQ (equalizer), HDR10+, and more, and an interesting design. The casing features the Homatics brand logo, which may suggest that the device will be available for sale on the Homatics website.
About Amlogic S928X SoC
We still don’t have enough information about the new S928X SoC. On the other hand, Amlogic’s press release shows the basic features of the chipset. Amlogic S928X chipset includes multi-core A76 & A55 big Little architecture, 12nm process, and a 36K+ DMIPS processing power. The video technology includes HDR10 + / HLG, Dolby Vision, Vivid HDR, and a full-featured HDMI2.1a 8K UHD video interface. The sound technology contains Dolby Audio, Dolby Atoms, and DTS allowing users more perfect and detailed audio and picture presentation.
Besides, the S928X has support for [email protected] AV1 decoding. In addition, CNX Software announced that Amlogic S928X is to support 8Kp60 AV1 / AVS3 / AVS2 / VP9 / H.265 decoder. Certainly, soon we will know the full specification of the chipset.
SEI 8K Android Streaming Box Features
As we could see on the example of Homatics Box R 4K Plus, the design of SEI Robotics streaming devices is interesting and elegant. At the same time, it breaks with the typical black design. During IBC 2022, SEI Robotics unveiled some details of the upcoming SEI 8K streaming box. The case presents an aesthetic with clean lines and brushed silver metal to enhance the texture. In addition, we have a built-in RGB light strip (the color of the light changes according to the contents of the TV screen).
Besides, SEI 8K Box has an embedded IoT module and supports Wi-Fi Mesh, Matter, Zigbee 3.0, Thread, and Wi-Fi 6E protocols. On the basis of the Homatics APP and Google Assistant, SEI 8K Box has access to control smart home devices via TV.
As you can see, the streaming device market (also in the Box format) is developing dynamically. Soon, next to 4K streamers, new 8K streaming devices will appear. For more information, see Amlogic and SEI Robotics press release.
