The following video from our YouTube channel where you can take a look at more Mygica ATV586 and bundled accessories.
First impressions, settings, overview of features
Mygica ATV586 TV Box has the typical appearance of the TV Box. This nicely made with good quality plastic small black box with dimensions 210 mm (L) * 171mm (W) * 35 mm (T). ATV586 has one external antenna WiFi. On the front is an IR receiver and LED power.
Booting Android to the “home screen” takes about 8.5 seconds. With 4.8 seconds standby mode. “Home screen” launcher Mygica looks very simple (a big plus) and access to functions is also simple and intuitive. In addition to the remote control I used the standard keyboard and mouse.
Starting with the use ATV586 configure the setting starting Network, Display, Advanced, Other.
ATV586 automatically detect the HDMI signal (in this case 720p 60Hz). You can also disable automatic detection and manually select the preferred resolution. There are no settings for display resolution in android settings. Probably the developers of Geniatech remove these options.
MyGica ATV586 has support supports Miracast and DLNA and allowing display images and data from the smartphone to the TV screen.
Unfortunately, as you can see the lack of proper model designation. Instead XS, should be MyGica ATV586 (it would look better). Choosing the More Settings button go to the Android standard settings.
Returning to the “Home screen” launcher Mygica clicking on the window to the left you can set Digital TV. Features do not differ from the standard that we could see in the DVB-T tuners. Channel search works without a problem. Digital TV receives no problems. No problem when switching between channels. Everything works fast, smoothly and stable. Below screenshots.
Geniatech / MyGica also prepared its own version of the app store to which we can access from the “Home Screen“, and also we can get to all applications installed on ATV586.
On the ATV586 you can run simple games such as Beach Buggy Racing and Jetpack Joyride. They work without a problem and stable. The problem occurs when controlling games using a mouse and keyboard, the lack of compatibility.
The MyGica ATV586 runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat, namely version 4.4.2 and the Linux Kernel version 3.10.33. ATV586 is equipped with a an Amlogic S805 processor and Quad core ARM Cortex-A5 and GPU Mali-450 MP, CPU speed between 24 MHz and 1.61 GHz. The SoC is quite powerful. On the following screens you can see exactly the components used and their specification (Information taken from the application AnTuTu Benchmark v5.7.1 and CPU-Z).
Performance tests and benchmarks
For testing we used the app AnTuTu Video Tester 3.0 and AnTuTu Benchmark 5.7.1. The following screenshots from the video test. The result 709.
Video playback by Kodi (14.2) runs smoothly and stable. ATV586 without problem seems plays movies with the resolution of 1080p (24fps, 30fps, 60fps) and with various codecs such as H.264 and DTS sound. On the other hand, Kodi can not cope with H.265 codec. The sample we tried to play did not work smoothly, they were jumping frames and the sound was broken. We tried a combination of hardware acceleration but to no avail.
Kodi needs to be further refined and we hope that the team Geniatech / MyGica it will improve. The same file with H.265 codec can play through MXplayer and then everything works properly, video work smoothly without any problems.
We made two times performance tests and on the second attempt we received a better benchmark – the result 18588. ATV586 result in stability tests also came out well. As mentioned, there are no exact model name (model name: XS) of the TV Box in the tests a little irritated. Below a lot of screenshots of Antutu and GeekBech 3.
The MyGica ATV586 scored 2303 on Ice Storm Extreme.
The MyGica ATV586 is a TV Box with built-in DVB-T2 tuner allows receiving Digital TV. ATV586 meet your expectations as android media player and digital TV tuner. If someone needs something more than a digital television, ATV586 meet his expectations. Unfortunately it does not support 4Kx2K, but the 1080p files can cope perfectly. MyGica ATV586 is available on Aliexpress.com priced at $109. On Aliexpress you can find a cheaper models equipped with DVB–T & DVB-T2, for example K1 TV Box can be purchased for about $55 – $80. On the other hand, taking into consideration the proper action, smooth and stable operation of the device, access to updates and support Geniatech team, ATV586 is recommendable.
