The Minisforum UM690S is an upgraded UM690 Mini PC with a dual-fan cooling system engineered for optimal thermal performance. This innovation has significantly reduced temperatures, with the SSD dropping from 68°C to 44°C, and DDR1 and DDR2 cooling to 68.25°C and 61°C, respectively. Minisforum UM690S Mini PC Details
In terms of design and processor, nothing has changed. The UM690S Mini PC offers almost the same specifications known as the Venus Series Mini PC. MINISFORUM UM690S has an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX (8 Cores/16 Threads, with a maximum turbo clock of 4.90 GHz with a default TDP targeted at 45 W) processor, Radeon 680M graphics (based on RDNA2 architecture, has 12 CUs up to 2.4 GHz). Besides UM690S can accommodate up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR5-4800 MHz memory and offers versatile storage expansion options, including one M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD slot and one 2.5-inch SATA HDD slot (SATA 3.0, 6.0 Gb/s, 7 mm). Besides, M.2 2230 slot support Wi-Fi and BlueTooth card.
However, what distinguishes the UM690S from its predecessor is improved cooling. The UM690S features four strategically placed air vents on its chassis to ensure smooth airflow. Its intelligent fan system draws in cooler air through two of these vents, while expelling warmer air through the remaining two vents, effectively reducing the overall ambient temperature. Minisforum says that an enhanced dual-fan cooling system, meticulously engineered for superior thermal performance, has resulted in significant temperature reductions. The SSD temperature has decreased from 68°C to a remarkable 44°C, while DDR1 and DDR2 memory have experienced reductions to 68.25°C and 61°C, respectively.
In addition, the UM690S has a USB4 port that supports a maximum transfer speed of 40 Gbps, and Alt Mode for DisplayPort and Thunderbolt. It also allows users to connect a discrete graphics card with a docking station to the machine. When utilizing both the USB4 and HDMI ports, you can establish connections with up to three displays, consisting of two 4K/60 Hz displays and one 8K/60 Hz display.

The Minisforum UM690S is now available for pre-order for Sale price$351 (barebone, without RAM and storage) and up. UM690S Mini PC with 64GB RAM and 1TB SSD was priced at $575. Minisforum says that the Mini PC comes with a free mouse pad until October 31st.
