MECOOL KD2 is a Certified Android 11 TV Dongle with S905Y4 SoC
This time MECOOL brand launches a new Google Certified Android TV Dongle called MECOOL KD2. Just like the KM7 Android TV Box that we recently wrote about, the new MECOOL KD2 is also powered by the same Amlogic S905Y4 SoC.

In addition, the new 4K TV Dongle is another Google Certified Android TV 11 4K streaming device in the MECOOL portfolio. At this stage, it is not hard to guess that the device has only full Google certification without Netflix certification.

However, good news for all users who cannot do without Netflix. MECOOL plans to launch two Google and Netflix certified Android TV Sticks / HDMI Sticks around November.
MECOOL KD3 powered by S905Y4 SoC and MECOOL KD5 1080p Android TV Stick powered by Amlogic S805X2 SoC which supports AV1 decoding. The devices will probably be based on Skyworth ODM devices, as was the case with the most popular MECOOL KM2 TV Box (review here).

Coming back to the features of the KD2 Android TV Dongle. The new 4K streaming dongle from the MECOOL brand is powered by the previously mentioned S905Y4 SoC with ARM G31 MP2 GPU. This chipset supports 4K AV1 decoding (AV1 [email protected] up to [email protected]), offering more video for less data, (save 20% -30%). AV1 codec provides more bandwidth efficiency than H.265 or VP9.
It is also worth mentioning that on board we find 4GB RAM and 32GB eMMC storage. Compared to the earlier MECOOL KD1 TV Stick, it had 2GB of RAM and 16GB of eMMC.
Besides, KD2 4K TV Dongle supports 2T2R Dual-band WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0. In addition, in the interesting KD2 Android TV Dongle housing, we also find a USB 2.0 port, and a micro USB 5V/1A for charging. Besides, the device is terminated with HDMI 2.1 Dynamic HDR.

KD2 4K Android TV Dongle comes with the same Bluetooth Voice remote control as MECOOL KM7. Google TV / Android TV reference design voice remote has dedicated button for Google Assistant as well as buttons for quick access to other content (Youtube, Prime Video, Google Play and Spotify).
