Geniatech ATV315Y4 S905Y4 Android TV Box Supports 4K AV1 Decoding
Recently, the Geniatech company (a leader on the TV Boxes / development boards market) recently introduced a new Android TV Box called Geniatech ATV315Y4 . ATV315Y4 is powered by Amlogic S905Y4 SoC and supports 4K AV1 decoding.

About S905Y4 SoC with AV1 decoding
Certainly not all of you have had the opportunity to learn about the S905Y4 SoC. That is why we remind you of some information. Amlogic S905Y4 chipset features low-power A35 CPU cores instead of keeping Cortex-A55 cores, which consumes up to 32% less battery power in achieving the same performance as Cortex-A55 cores. However, its performance is lower compared to the Amlogic S905X4 SoC. It is worth mentioning that the same chipset can also be found in the new Android TV Dongles (for example, SDMC DV6071Z and SEI Robotics SEI450).
However, it is worth mentioning that just like the S905X4 SoC, the S905Y4 chipset also supports 4K AV1 decoding. AV1 is a high-performance, royalty-free video codec that provides 20% improved compression efficiency over HEVC/VP9. Besides, manages to save up to 30% in bandwidth for the same image quality. As you know, support for AV1 codec in new devices is required by Google, as well as supported by top streaming services, such as Netflix.

In addition to the aforementioned S905Y4 SoC, the ATV315Y4 streaming device comes with 2GB RAM and 8GB eMMC. Besides, the device supports Wifi 2 x 2 MIMO 2.4GHz/5.0GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Fast Ethernet, and Bluetooth 5.0. The device also comes with HDMI 2.1. Geniatech ATV315Y4 also runs on Android TV (9.0). However, there is no information whether the device is certified by Google.
