The Geniatech company (a leader on the TV Boxes / development boards market) recently introduced a new Android TV Stick called Geniatech ATV195Y4. ATV195Y4 Android TV Stick is powered by Amlogic S905Y4 SoC that support 4K AV1 decoding.
Geniatech ATV195Y4 Android TV Stick it’s not the only 4K streaming device in the Geniatech portfolio that supports AV1 codec. We recently wrote about the Geniatech ATV315Y4 Android TV Box which is also powered by the S905Y4 SoC.
About S905Y4 SoC with AV1 decoding
Certainly not all of you have had the opportunity to learn about the S905Y4 SoC. That is why we remind you of some information. Amlogic S905Y4 chipset features low-power A35 CPU cores instead of keeping Cortex-A55 cores, which consumes up to 32% less battery power in achieving the same performance as Cortex-A55 cores. However, its performance is lower compared to the Amlogic S905X4 SoC.
Besides this SoC supports AV1 codec. Most of the currently popular streaming services use the latest AV1 decoding. AV1 is a high-performance, royalty-free video codec that provides 20% improved compression efficiency over HEVC/VP9 and manages to save up to 30% in bandwidth for the same image quality.
Geniatech ATV195Y4 Android Streaming Stick Details
ATV195Y4 Android TV Stick was based on the same design as the previous ATV195Y2 (with S905Y2 SoC). This small 4K streaming stick (measures 111*40*19.5) is powered via the USB Type-C port. It is also worth paying attention to the large number of openings in the housing.
The three-sided honeycomb heat dissipation hole design conforms to the principle of thermodynamics and is more conducive to performance improvement.
