ROC-RK3566-PC is a new mini computer from the Firefly brand. How not hard to guess mini computer/dev board is powered by the already well-known Rockchip RK3566 SoC. In addition, it supports 8GB RAM and an M.2 interface that allows expansion with a large hard drive.
For some time now, TV Boxes based on the RK3566 SoC have appeared on the market. However, Rockchip’s RK3566 chipset is an AIoT processor that offers much more than multimedia features. Therefore, you can successfully use Firefly’s ROC-3566-PC in various industrial projects, not only like streaming devices.
Firefly ROC-RK3566-PC Overview Features
As we mentioned, the ROC-RK3566-PC is powered by Rockchip RK3566 SoC (Quad-core 64-bit Cortex-A55, 22nm lithography process, frequency up to 1.8GHz) and ARM G52 2EE GPU. It is also worth mentioning about integrated co-processors. It is integrated with dual-core GPU, high-performance VPU, and high-efficiency NPU. The GPU supports OpenGL ES3.2/2.0/1.1, Vulkan1.1. The VPU can achieve 4K 60fps H.265/H.264/VP9 video decoding and 1080P 100fps H.265/ H.264 video encoding. The NPU supports one-click switching of mainstream frameworks like Caffe/TensorFlow.
Besides, this development board supports up to 8GB RAM with up to 32Bit width and supports all-data-link ECC. Additionally, it has an M2. PCIe2.0 interface (can be connected with NVMe SSD) that allows expansion with a large hard drive.
ROC-RK3566-PC mini computer supports various systems such as Android, Ubuntu, Buildroot + QT, Station OS (Firefly Geek System), and other systems, and supports to boot the system via TF card, U disk, EMMC, etc.
With Station OS (Firefly Geek System) you can build a home entertainment center to enjoy movies and games with high-definition and big-screen viewing. Additionally, you can use desktop mode to work.
ROC-RK3566-PC interfaces
Firefly’s ROC-RK3566-PC mini computer is small and fits into pockets (measures 90.0 mm × 60.0 mm). But it would be worth printing the case on a 3D printer for safer carrying. Additionally, it has a variety of interfaces such as HDMI2.0, USB3.0, USB2.0, MIPI DSI, MIPI CSI, I2C, SPI, UART, ADC, PWM, GPIO, PCIe, I2S, and other interfaces, it can be directly used for external device control and expansion.
More details and ROC-RK3566-PC specification can be found on the product page.
