Beelink GT-King: First impressions, settings, overview of features
Beelink GT-King is a small TV Box, made solidly, with good quality plastic. On the top cover has an interesting perforation, the “skull” resembles the well-known logo used on Skull Canyon mini PC. After connecting the power supply “skull eyes” glow green. Picture below.
As you know, GT-King TV Box is the first Android TV Box with Amlogic S922X SoC a Quad-core ARM Cortex-A73 + Qual-core ARM Cortex-A53, Mali G52 MP6 GPU, Android 9 OS, DDR4 4G 2800MHz RAM, 3D EMMC 64G ROM. Below you will find photos of PCBA provided to us by Beelink team and interface diagram.
What interfaces GT-King TV Box has
On the front panel is an IR receiver. On one side there is a 2x USB 3.0 port and TF card slot. On the rear panel are DC jack, Gigabit RJ45 Ethernet port, HDMI 2.1, optical S / PDIF port and AV port. At the bottom of the device, there are also four rubber pads to prevent shifting, reset hole, and information about the serial number.
Beelink GT-King comes with 2.4G wireless remote control with an air mouse feature. Voice Remote Control works very well. Recognizes voice commands without any problem. Just press the button with the microphone symbol and say the command. All you have to do is put the USB receiver in the USB port at TV Box. Air mouse works great, makes using the TV Box easier, and works great when playing Fruit Ninja.
Impressions from the use
Unfortunately, in the new Beelink GT-King, we will not see a new UI, only old and well-known from previous TV Boxes from Beelink (for example Beelink GT1). Beelink has prepared a competition for a new UI (more here), so we hope that a new UI will appear with the new update.
We can choose typically the resolution of FHD 1920×1080 (1080p 60Hz) but you can also adjust the preferred resolution or set the auto switch. Everything worked stable and very quickly without delays. We had no problem with Ethernet and WiFi connection to the router and to the Internet. Ethernet: Download – 317Mbps Upload – 35.6Mbps, WiFi: Download – 37.4Mbps Upload – 37.6Mbps (WiFi should be faster). In addition to the voice remote control with an air mouse feature, we used a standard keyboard and a gamepad from iPega called iPega PG-9076. The device has 64GB storage, exactly as it is in the specification. TV Box supports DLNA and also Miracast, but you need to install the AirScreen app. If you need to control the TV Box through a smartphone, you can use CetusPlay (Install CetusPlay On TV/Box app on TV box and open, Install CetusPlay on a smartphone). GT-King, unfortunately, supports Netflix up to 540p (we have installed the Netflix version v4.16.1) and 1080p Youtube (only full HD). Unfortunately, the HBO Go app stopped after starting. For testing, we installed the latest available Kodi 18.2 “Leia”. On GT-King TV Box you can play in games from the Google Play store. We can confidently say that this is an Android TV Box perfect for games. Games run smoothly with maximum settings. Just connect a gamepad or keyboard. We used iPega PG-9076 and played Beach Buggy Racing, Real Racing 3, Asphalt 8, PUBG Mobile and Fruit Ninja via Beelink Voice remote control with an air mouse. Below the screenshots.
Beelink GT-King: Operating system and components
The GT-King TV Box runs on the Android 9.0, Kernel version 4.9.113. The TV Box comes with firmware build number 901K0 (20190508). TV Box is equipped with new Amlogic S922X big.LITTLE processor with 4x Arm Cortex A73 cores @ up to 1.8 GHz, 2x Arm Cortex A53 cores @ 1.7 GHz and GPU Mali-G52, CPU speed between 100MHz and 1.8GHz. On the following screens, you can see exactly the components used and their specification (Information taken from the CPU-Z app, the application does not yet recognize Amlogic S922X SoC). After using the DRM info (app) we know that Beelink GT-King TV Box only supports Google Widevine. The device also has root access. Below screenshots.
Beelink GT-King: Performance tests and benchmarks
For testing, we use the AnTuTu Video Tester 3.0 app and AnTuTu Benchmark 7. 2.0. The result 1095! and one unsupported codec. Video playback by Kodi 18.2 Leia runs almost smoothly and stable. The TV Box without problem seems plays movies with the resolution of 480p,720p, and 1080p (24fps, 30fps, 60fps) and also 4K (60fps) with various codecs videos such as H.264, H.265, MPEG2, MPEG4, RMVB, and audio – DTS and AC3. Dolby Digital 5.1 passthrough worked fine via HDMI. Also, we tested several video formats – AVI, MKV, MP4 (typical formats in which it holds the majority of movies), ISO and also videos was played fine. The tested TV Box plays video files in 4K (also 60fps) almost without any major problems. The following table of video samples tested for Kodi 18.2. TV Box also copes well with playing the video on YouTube, videos play only in 1080p. We tried to play VP9 4K video and also runs smoothly.

Beelink GT-King: Benchmarks
Below Benchmark screenshots we were able to do: AnTuTu Benchmark, GeekBench 4, 3D Mark: Ice Storm Extreme, Sling Shot, Sling Shot Extreme, GPUBench, GFXBench Benchmark, Vellamo. GT-King TV Box has the internal memory benchmarks: Read 128.18MB/s – Write 106.82MB/s. RAM copy speed was 2725.64MB/s.
Beelink GT-King: Conclusions
New Beelink GT-King is undoubtedly one of the most powerful Android TV Boxes currently available on the market (result in Antutu benchmark). It is well made, has a strong specification based on the new S922X SoC. It copes great with 4K video playback and works very well in games. Beelink GT-King has great potential, but still requires optimization and improvement of minor bugs in operation. We miss a new UI, faster WiFi, support for Youtube 4K (2160p), Netflix HD, and HBO Go. The big advantage is the included voice remote control with an air mouse, which facilitates handling (voice commands) and navigating. Taking into account the specification and features, the current price is not excessive (but the lowest is always welcome 🙂 ). If you need an efficient and powerful Android TV Box, which also has manufacturer support (available updates) then you should consider buying the new Beelink GT-King TV Box.
