Amlogic S805X2 chipset is a new Amlogic’s SoC designed for deployment 2K IPTV and OTT Android TV Boxes. New S805X2 SoC supports AV1 video decoding, HDR10+, and Android 11 OS. Below also the new SDMC DV9035 Android TV Box based on S805X2 SoC.
As you know, Google’s requirements for AV1 decoding support on Android TV devices forced manufacturers to comply with these guidelines. Of course, it would not be possible without the processor manufacturers. Amlogic is a leader in the production of chipsets for Android TV Boxes, and recently released an FHD STB processor called the Amlogic AS805X2.
Amlogic’s portfolio already includes several chipsets that support 4K AV1 decoding, such as the Amlogic S905X4 SoC, S905Y4 SoC. However, the FHD chipset with AV1 codec support was missing until now.
Below is a comparison of the Amlogic S8 series to make it easier for you to see what changes the Amlogic S905X2 SoC introduces.

As we see in the specifications the Amlogic S805X2 is a Quad-Core Cortex-A35 CPU manufactured in 12nm, a significant improvement from the previous 28nm. Compared with the other two chipsets, the Amlogic S805X2 chipset chooses A35 CPU cores replacement with Cortex A53 providing 32% lower power per core and increasing 25% efficiency. It integrates a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, also greatly exceeding the previous Mali-450 MP3 in performance, and allows native decoding of H.265, VP9 video with the support for higher HDR standard.
In conclusion, Amlogic S805X2 provides a cost-down but high-performance 2K processor solution for streaming boxes to support AV1 and cater to the market demand.
